About Baccarat
Baccarat is the simplest of the major table games to play, because almost nothing is left to the player. Two hands are dealt — Player and Banker — and you choose which one you are backing, or whether they will tie. Whether a third card is drawn is not a decision; it follows a fixed table of rules that both hands obey automatically.
The three main bets do not carry the same cost. Banker wins slightly more often than Player, which is why a commission is normally deducted from a winning Banker bet — with that commission applied, the two are close, and Banker retains a small advantage. The Tie bet pays far more and lands far less often, and once the payout is weighed against the frequency it carries a substantially higher house edge than either main bet. Side bets follow the same pattern: the larger the advertised return, the rarer the event.
Because the drawing rules are automatic, there is no strategy to apply beyond choosing which bet to place, and the scoreboards displayed at many tables track history rather than predict anything. Each table publishes its commission, its payouts and its side bet odds before you sit down.
Common questions
Banker carries the lowest house edge of the main bets even after commission, and Tie carries by far the highest. That is arithmetic from the published payouts, not a tip — none of the three has a positive expected return.
Because the Banker hand wins slightly more often than the Player hand. The commission brings the two bets closer together; without it the table would lose money on that side.
No. They record what has already happened. Each hand is dealt independently of the last, so a pattern on the board carries no information about the next result.
No. It follows a fixed rule table that applies automatically to both hands, which is why baccarat has no playing decisions once the bet is placed.
Nothing on this page is advice on how to win, and no game described here can be influenced, predicted or beaten over time. Every game is built to return less than it takes. Play with money you can afford to lose, and set your limits before you start rather than after.

Every account at MGE Digital opens with a deposit limit, a loss limit and a session time limit that you set yourself during registration. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately; raising one is held for 24 hours and must then be confirmed by you.
Online gambling is entertainment that costs money, not a way to make it. If it stops being entertainment, BetGuard self-exclusion closes your account across every operator in the Ontario market, and Responsible Gaming explains every other control available to you.
